I ordered two lunch sets and a box of sea urchin. The food was fresh, the environment was comfortable, and the bill came to around 130.

4.5/5. Highlights: aburi sushi set decently priced and tasty. Aburi Salmon Oshi: great! House sake: cheap, mild. Negi Otoro Temaki: on the disappointing side. It takes sometime to make the fried stuff despite few patrons in the restaurant, but it is piping hot. Assorted tempura review: very average, avoid. Overall on the pricy spectrum, good presentation, certain things they do well.

Sashimi was fresh and presented well. The Kimchi Beef Nabe was excellent. The servers were attentive and polite.

Rather expensive for the quantity of food in each dish. The sashimi was fresh and the presentation was great, the geoduck sashimi had the just right amount of crunch; the aburi sushi set was great, and the grilled squid is delicious. Didn't love the fish liver, but overall a delicious meal. Service was quick and ordering through the tablet was easy enough. Service is available in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English, the waitress that served us knew the Japanese names of the dishes and the different types of fish well. Would recommend with a minor caution on cost.
Out of the countless mid-high tier/priced Japanese restaurants in Richmond, this one is my preferred choice. It’s still pricey if you get drinks, but sometimes you gotta treat yourself. Engawa is a must get. Their skewers are cooked nicely. Servers were friendly and checks up on you regularly. The food comes quickly. Overall a good place to get drunk with a friend while eating bites.
